Dr Javeriah Mahmood
Javeria has had a long career in dentistry! She trained as a Dental Nurse, qualified as a Dental technician at 19 (specialising in porcelain crown and bridge) and then pursued a career in dentistry, qualifying as a dentist from Peninsula dental school in 2015 (GDC 258191).
Since qualifying, Javeria has gone on to work in multiple hospitals in the Oral and Maxillofacial (MaxFac) specialty, where she now works as a Specialty Doctor for a NHS trust. Here she carries out Minor Oral Surgery Clinics, where she is extracting teeth and carrying out biopsies under local anaesthesia. She treats patients with Myo-facial pain and Temporo-mandibular joint disorders using Botox. This is an incredible skill, which Javeria will provide to our patients soon. She is also currently the lead clinician for the Intravenous Sedation Service in the Oral and Maxillo-facial Outpatient Department. This alternative service is provided to anxious patients, who would have otherwise had treatment under general anaesthesia. Javeria has played a major role in setting up this service and she has recently won an award for improving services in the trust.
She is very passionate about dentistry, providing exemplary quality care to patients and enjoys the variant work balance of working in both hospital and general dental practice. Outside of work Javeria enjoys socialising and travel. She is actively involved in a number of charities from local to international. She loves to cook and has recently developed an interest in baking.
